It is difficult for public personas to hide shady business dealings. It is especially difficult if a persona is the President of the United States and as the Russian proverb says however much would the string wind, the end will be reached anyway.
Facts continue to mount suggesting that Donald Trump’s campaign members have colluded with Russia. This time new information comes from Steve Bannon, Donald Trump’s chief strategist.
Wolff’s upcoming Washington tell-all, “Fire and Fury: Inside the Trump White House,” details the inner workings of the Trump White House.
New York Daily News Reports that the ultra-conservative nationalist, speaking to author Michael Wolff, Steve Bannon described a now-infamous Trump Tower meeting between the President’s eldest son and a group of Russians during his father’s campaign as “treasonous” and “unpatriotic.” He said that Donald Trump Jr., will “crack like an egg” under the pressure of the ongoing investigation into Russian election meddling.
Guardian highlights that Bannon said: “The three senior guys in the campaign thought it was a good idea to meet with a foreign government inside Trump Tower in the conference room on the 25th floor – with no lawyers. They didn’t have any lawyers. Even if you thought that this was not treasonous, or unpatriotic, or bad shit, and I happen to think it’s all of that, you should have called the FBI immediately.”
According to Guardian, Bannon went on to say that if any such meeting had to take place, it should have been set up “in a Holiday Inn in Manchester, New Hampshire, with your lawyers who meet with these people”. Any information, he said, could then be “dump[ed] … down to Breitbart or something like that, or maybe some other more legitimate publication”.
Bannon added: “You never see it, you never know it, because you don’t need to … But that’s the brain trust that they had.”
Meanwhile, a former Trump campaign chairman indicted on money laundering charges by special counsel Robert Mueller as a part of his probe into Russia’s meddling in the 2016 election is suing the Justice Department and Mr Mueller, saying that the special counsel didn’t have the authority to charge him.
The Independent reports that the lawsuit, brought by Paul Manafort, represents the latest effort by allies of President Donald Trump to stem the special counsel’s investigation. That backlash has included pressure from some congressional Republicans, who have called publicly on the Justice Department to shutter the Mueller probe.
It seems that there is no end of the “string” because new facts pop up every day making work of the Robert Mueller’s team busier.
Hopefully, the investigation could be finalized soon and the outcome would not only bring those responsible to justice but also clean up the US politics making the entire world safer.
